FTC - Flying Tin Cans

I like the premise of historical battles/missions and being in the EU (UTC+2 Valencia, Spain) this sounds pretty good. I have been flying\racing sims since ~1990 as "Icer", "-Ice-", and other permutations of that handle. First online was Confirmed Kill (telnet over DOS), then Warbirds, then Aces High with the occasional IL-2. Jet and helo sims mixed in (Falcon 4.0\Gunship\Janes (all of them), and countless others.. Nowadays I occasionally fly IL-2 FB\CLoD with most of my spare time in Flying Circus, combined with BMS Falcon (4.36 now) on the jet side. Have about 80% of all DCS content but can never seem to get into it. Heading out to Porto until Monday 18/7/22, but will look around here and try to familiarize myself with you.. Thanks!

Is there a General discussion area on the Discord I can't access? I do not have posting privileges on any of the sub-discords, I just have some general questions on getting started and Discord is usually where the help is.

For now -
I see Historical skins, are Mods allowed?
How will I know what plane\type mission I will fly? I will need to practice up on specific planes, make sure the bindings are good for them, etc.
Is the server populated with AI for practice, and is it OK to jump on at off times (other than Thursday night or Sunday)?
I'm unclear as to what TS3 Channels I should set for 2\3\4, assume Allied is A\B\C and the Squad Channels are private?

Have houseguests arriving 21/7 for a week so I won't be able to do anything but practice until next Thursday, but would like to pop on the server to check it out..
